Carl, as well as being my favourite singer and performer, was one of my best friends. Though he is no longer physically here, every day I am inspired by his lust for life and his bravery in the face of illness. The warmth of his friendship and his encouragement in all I did will stay with me forever. He taught me to believe in myself and has given me the courage to aim high and strive to be the best I can.
